How It Works
Solar electricity has been around since
1883, with the solar electric cell coming out in 1952. Since
then it has evolved into being utilized by NASA, Transportation
Authorities ie call boxes on the side of the highway, and any
type of application that requires a remote power source. Even
though grid-tied solar (solar for your home) has been around
since the early 1990's, it has really boomed in the US within
the last 3 years.
Some of the main reasons are environmental awareness, incentives
and everyday American's having to pay an electric bill that keeps
getting more expensive. The below three interactive illustrations
are meant to give a brief understanding of the physics behind the
solar cell, how the whole solar system works in conjunction with
your home, and how the optional backup generator can help your
solar system run more smoothly and efficiently.

With a Clean Power solar electric solution
you, in essence, become your own power generation substation. When
sunlight (photons) hits the electrons within the solar cells they
become excited and through a physical process known as the “photovoltaic
effect” this sunlight is converted into Direct Current (DC)
electricity.
Backup Option

If you are tired of blackouts, are running
a home where a minute without power is lost revenue, are
located in an area that do not have easy access to the utility grid,
or simply just want more independence from the utility then our Clean
Power battery or generator backup systems are the answer. The only
way to have power when the grid goes down is with the backup option.
Systems that do not have a backup must, by law, shut down. This safety
feature, anti-islanding, prevents random surges of power traveling
the grid and causing injury or damage. With a Clean Power backup
option you will not need to worry about this inconvenience.
In the case of a battery back-up, electricity will be stored waiting
for the grid to fail, and when this happens the solar panels will
shut down and the batteries will power your critical loads.
In the case of Back-up Generation, electricity will be replaced
in case of a grid failure, and when this happens the solar panels
will shut down and the generator will contine to power your critical
loads.
When the power from the grid returns, the system reconnects as
it was before the outage. Switching to and from the batteries or
generator happens so fast that most computers usually do not detect
a difference.
